What is the difference between Longterm Care and Assisted Living?

Long-term care facilities (or formerly nursing homes) are designed for individuals who do not quite need to be in a hospital but are not able to live safely at home, due to physical or psychological limitations. Longterm facilities provide around-the-clock nursing and personal care services.

Those who live in assisted living are typically more active and do not require as much individual care.
