About Our Organization

We are a leader in residential care in Langley, British Columbia. Operated by the Langley Care Society, we have an excellent track record for achieving exemplary standards of clinical care.  We are proud of our 41 year history. Founded by local community leaders in the 1970’s and governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors, our organization benefits from strong community support through our Foundation. This support enables annual contributions for the best equipment and therapies. We have an active volunteer base who give their time generously to support our therapeutic recreation programs. We demonstrate our values by creating an energized and vibrant home, that welcomes families and visitors, churches and music, recreation and events thereby fulfilling our belief in ‘quality of life’. 

Langley Care Society is an accredited, licensed Complex Care provider. Our non-profit organization is a registered charity. Funding is through the Fraser Health Authority and through local, fundraising activities.

We hire qualified, experienced professionals and allied workers. Our philosophy is patient-centered care. We have been operating for over 40 years and are improving our facilties and services to continually meet the current day residential care requirements for our elderly population.

We are a vibrant organization with varied daily activities, a large volunteer component, and involved family members.

 


 

Volunteer Coordinator – Contract Opportunity
 
Langley Lodge is a 139 bed long term (complex care) home that has been serving the Langley area since 1974. Our mission is to provide exemplary care for the elderly in our community.  
 
We have an opening for an experienced Volunteer Coordinator to join our team.
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, trains, and manages volunteers/ students in programs throughout the organization that contribute to the benefits and services offered to residents at Langley Lodge.
Reporting to the Director of Care, you will also work closely with the Therapy Recreation Coordinator in this role.
 
Education Qualifications & Competencies:
 
• Post-Secondary Degree and/or certificate in Volunteer Management
• Member of a Professional Organization
• Two years recent work experience with volunteers.
• Significant managerial and human resources experience
• Communication and public relations experience
• Leadership and group facilitation skills
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
• Computer and software skills - proficient in MS Office Suite of products, experience with electronic volunteer programs.
 
 
Hours of Work and Compensation:
Sixteen (16) hours per week
Salary based on education and experience.

Horticulture Therapist – Contract Opportunity

Langley Lodge is a 139 bed long term (complex care) home that has been serving the Langley area since 1974. Our mission is to provide exemplary care for the elderly in our community. 

We have an opening for an enthusiastic Horticulture Therapist to join our team and work at our Langley location.

Primary duties include planning, implementing, and evaluating Horticulture Therapy programs designed to improve or maintain residents/elders level of physical, mental, emotional and social functioning.

Reporting to the Director of Care, you will also work closely with the Therapy Recreation Coordinator in this role.

Education Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Completion of a recognized Horticulture Therapy program with two years of  experience or a combination of education, training and experience in Horticulture Therapy
  • Member in good standing, of the Canadian Horticulture Therapy Association
  • Two years recent experience in a long term care home setting
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
  • Computer and software skills - proficient in MS Office Suite of products

Hours of Work and Compensation:

One day per week 7.5 hours

Salary based on education and experience.

Employment Opportunity - Licensed Practical Nurse

Title: LPN
Temporary position 0.93FTE evenings
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Nurse manager or RN/RPN, provides nursing care to residents according to Langley Lodge policies and procedures, and within limitations set by BC Council of Licensed Practical Nurses. 
Qualification: Graduate from a recognized program for Practical nurses and a current License with the BC Council for Practical Nurses. One to two years of dementia care experience is an asset.

Employment Opportunity - Part Time Bus Driver

Join our dynamic Therapeutic Recreation Team! We are seeking a vibrant, qualified individual for a part time contract position to drive our bus.

The Bus Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe transporting of Langley Lodge residents to various, weekly scheduled activities.

Successful candidates will be experienced with serving the older seniors population and will possess a friendly, respectful communication style.

Education and Training

  1. Candidates must hold a minimum of a Class 4 Unrestricted Drivers License
  2. Be able to demonstrate a safe driving history, a drivers abstract will be required

Additional Qualifications:

  1. Physically able to perform the duties of the position
  2. Current First Aid Level 1
  3. Criminal records check
